Dr. Yong Rui is currently Assistant managing Director at Microsoft Asia, leading of multimedia search and mining, knowledge mining, and social computing. From the To, he is Senior Director at the Microsoft asia-pacific r&d (ARD) Group in charge. From 2008 to, he is Director of Microsoft education Product in. From 2006 to 2008, he is a founding member of ARD and its-Director. From 1999 to 2006, he is researcher and Senior researcher of the Multimedia collaboration group at Microsoft, Re Dmond, USA.

A Fellow of IEEE, Iapr and SPIE, and a distinguished scientist of ACM, Rui is recognized as a leading expert in his resear CH areas. He holds issued US and international patents. He has published and book chapters, and 100+ referred journal and Conference papers. Rui¡¯s publications are among the most cited¨c the 15,000+ citations and his h-index = 52. He is a associate Editor of IEEE Trans. On multimedia (2004-2008), IEEE Trans. On circuits and Systems for video Technol Ogies (2006-2010), Acm/springer multimedia Systems Journal (2004-2006), and International Journal of multimedia Tools and Applications (2004-2006). He also serves on the advisory Board of IEEE Trans. On automation and Engineering.

Dr. Rui is on organizing committees and program committees of numerous conferences including ACM, ACM Multimedia, ICMR E Icme, SPIE itcom, and ICPR. He's general co-chair of the ACM Multimedia in 2009 and 2014, the ACM ICMR in 2006 and, and the program Icimcs Hair of ACM Multimedia in 2006, Pacific Rim Multimedia (PCM) in 2006, and IEEE Icme in 2009.
