To bring Excel to the Oracle database, I now know that one way is to:
1. Save Excel as a CSV file
2. In PL/SQL developer, the contents of CSV file are directed into Oracle
Expand Next Step 2:
1. Open PL/SQL Developer, log in to database
2. Tools-Text Importer
3. Open the CSV file in the text importer
Note that there is no other program at the same time to open this CSV file. I used to save the file as a CSV file in Excel, then Excel did not close, open in PL/SQL developer, result Open failed, no record.
4. In the text importer, switch to "data to Oracle"
Hooks a column to a field.
When hooking, you can apply various functions, or expressions. For example:
1) use a GUID as the primary key
2) Case statement
These matches, definitions can be hard to save, for reuse:
5. Press the "Import" button below to import it. There are options to "clear the table", rather diabolical.
