Project objectives:
The ability to restore lost messages without affecting normal work.
Project implementation:
To provide greater flexibility when restoring mailboxes to mailbox stores, Exchange 2003 adds functionality to a Recovery storage group. A Recovery Storage Group is a dedicated mail recovery Storage Group in exchange that provides a temporary location for stored mailbox data to restore mailbox store information in a regular storage group, and the recovery process does not affect normal work. Users will still be able to send and receive e-mail during the recovery period. However, we should note that the Recovery Storage group can only recover the mailbox store, not the public folder store.
After you restore a mailbox to a storage group, you can use the Exchange utility to move the recovered mailbox data from the Recovery Storage group to the regular storage group. Using both methods, you can restore an entire mailbox store or only a single mailbox. (Establish a Recovery storage group; Restore the mailbox store to the Recovery Storage Group; Merge the recovered mailbox data with a regular mailbox.) )
