There are a lot of materials on the Internet, but it seems that they are all about theory. At least I didn't find anyone doing experiments. Recently I started a manual operation on a virtual machine.
In the moss environment, if metabase is damaged due to operation errors or service unavailable occurs in IIS, you may need to reinstall IIS, but you do not want to back up and restore moss or reinstall Moss, there are two ideas to come up with. One is to back up the entire IIS and restore it after reinstalling it. The other is to reinstall IIS and run the "SharePoint product and Technical Configuration Wizard ", open the management center site and add other Web Applications Program .
My virtual machine environment is
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1
In IIS 6.0
SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
Sharepoint Server 2007
First, let's look at the first idea. First, back up IIS while it is running normally,
Click "create backup ":
Enter a backup name. I didn't use a password to encrypt the backup. Then, make sure that the backup file is stored in the "windows \ system32 \ inetsrv \ metaback" path.
Next, uninstall IIS and reinstall it. This step is familiar to everyone. The specific steps are omitted. First, test whether the re-installed IIS is available. You can simply create a site. Then, similar to the above operation, restore the backup just now. After the backup is complete, IIS "looks" the same as before we re-installed, but this problem arises, no matter which website you visit, all the results are service unavailable. The same is true for re-creating a site. I have tried to re-install it using the aspnet_regiis command..
Then we will test the second idea. Uninstall IIS first, and then reinstall it to test whether the IIS has been reinstalled is correct and available. Run the "SharePoint product and Technical Configuration Wizard". In this way, the site of the previous management center will be created under IIS, and the corresponding page cannot be found when you directly access the site. Then, run the aspnet_iis command to reinstall the site. after the net framework, it is harmonious. You can go in to the management. The following operations are as follows:
First, go to Application Management-delete SharePoint from the IIS website, select an application,
On the "delete IIS website" option, select "yes". OK,
Go to Application Management-create or expand a web application-expand an existing web application and select the application we just operated, as shown in the preceding figure: http: // win2k3r2: 8090 /, re-use the previous port to create your IIS website. OK.
At this time, the webconfig file of the website is restored to the initial settings. If your website has not been customized, such as webparts and user-defined controls, it can be accessed normally. However, if the website has been developed and customized, You need to modify the webconfig file and copy the DLL to GAC again (the files in the bin folder of the application do not need to be copied again ). Recovery of other web applications is similar to this operation.
