Some people say that Linux is not as good as Windows. In fact, this is because you do not understand Linux. If you want to back up ghost in Linux, people on the internet can say yes, but they all say that there may be problems with ghost, I hope this article will help you back up ghost in Linux. Some Linux people are very disgusted with using other tools to back up Linux. If you are particularly disgusted with simplicity, ease, intuition, and speed, we recommend that you use dd tar grub. Otherwise, please read the ghost article I wrote.

Objective: To back up a Linux partition and generate a backup file.
Our desire is simple, safe, and efficient.
Advantages of ghost:
Graphical, easy to use. More help on the Internet. Move the mouse to recover multiple computers on the LAN at the same time. Supports ntfs partitions. For Linux, ghost can help debian to simplify the installation of the minimum system for hard disks, simplify lfs deployment in stages, and use the server-client ghost technology to help the LAN to deploy Linux in batches, that is, one-to-multiple network cloning.

1. Start dos.
1. If you have a soft drive, you can use the win98 boot disk to start the computer.
2. You can use the system maintenance disc to start the instance.
3. If you have a win, you can use a program such as dwarf to start from boot. ini.

2. Run ghost
The ghost must be of version 8.3 or later and can be found online for dos. Select local ---> partition ---> to disk
Select the Linux partition you want to back up, and then select the target partition. OK.

Note:

1. The source partition must be in ext2/ext3 format. You can select fat32 and ntfs as the target partition. If it is a fat32 partition, ghost Automatically splits the file and compresses it automatically. I used to scale the 5 GB ext3 partition to 1.7 GB.
2. In win, you can use ghostexplorer to open a compressed file and export a file.
3 ghost8.2 is not recommended for writing data to ntfs partitions in dos.
4. if you want to back up and restore Linux partitions under Windows, you can use ghost32. We recommend that you use a higher version, which is currently up to version 10. This is the simplest Backup recovery method, provided that you have win
5. other third-party tools, such as acronis true image, are also supported.
7. What is the partition type not supported by ghost?
A:
Currently, the supported partitions are FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, and EXT2/3.
Not supported:
1 cannot be compressed: 5 GB of data is backed up in a partition
2. You cannot browse or export the files in the package.
Instead of being unable to back up and restore.
All programs such as ghost have the function of backing up and recovering any partition by sector. That is to say, my method can back up arbitrary partitions, including unix, Linux, win, dos, * bsd, and other systems from the past to the present to the future.
8. Do not back up yourself in a running system. This is like not performing an operation on your own. If you want to use Linux to back up Linux, find a livecd boot disk.
9. Try to use dd For Linux backup. Do not use files such as tar and cp. Using a file backup program to back up partitions, some files that are marked with unbackups cannot be backed up, and some metadata cannot be backed up. An obvious example is that tar cannot back up grub or lilo in the partition, as well as seLinux rules.
10 in terms of speed, many Linux releases do not enable dma. In dma-enabled Linux, the speed of dd and tar is far inferior to that of ghost.
11 The ghost-ib parameter can be used to back up the boot area. "The disk boot track include clone" does not know whether it refers to the boot area in the backup partition or the master boot area.
