I have been using the old Peaches PE to install Windows 7
I take it for granted that Windows 8.1 is a similar approach
But that's not the case.
Take a note here lest you forget it later.
Problem one: can boot from the USB stick, but cannot enter the PE interface
Workaround:
Boot press F2 into BIOS interface
Enter Boot tab page
Change Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy support
Then change the new Boot priority from UEFI first to Legacy support
Save Restart Press F12 to select the USB flash drive to enter the PE selection interface
Issue two: Install the retail version need to enter the serial number, cannot skip
Workaround:
Add a ei.cfg file to the Sources folder under the installation file
The file contents are as follows
[EditionID] [Channel] Retail[vl]0
Then reinstall to skip the input serial number interface
Principle:
Ei.cfg is a Windows Installer-specific configuration file that determines which version and license should be used during installation.
The installer can automatically read the ei.cfg and determine what version the user purchased, and then block the selection list for other versions.
Ei.cfg as long as the content or format is wrong, the installer lists all versions of the selection list.
Issue three: "Windows cannot install to this disk" When you select the target disk during installation. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On an EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. ”
Workaround:
Enter into PE with Diskgenius convert partition table type to GUID format
Principle:
This is because the Diskgenius was previously re-divided in PE.
The default partition table type is MBR
Cannot be installed under the MBR partition table in EFI mode
