Lenovo system X3650 M5 Install Windows Server R2 Easy Tutorial

Goal: Install Windows Server R2 on the Lenovo System X3650.

(Recommended installation of Windows Server R2)

Preparation tools: USB flash drive and blank disc, DVD burner.

Preparation software: Rufus,ultraiso.

Prepare for mirroring: Windows Server r2 ISO and server guide ISO.

Preparation knowledge: X3650 M5 default is the UEFI boot mode, GPT partition format. UEFI boot of the GPT partition format of the USB drive, need to be made with Rufus.

Windows Server R2 cannot plug in the installation disk directly, otherwise you will be prompted not to find the driver, the installation failed.

You need to use the boot disk to set some options to install, the boot disk will be copied drive to the C drive.

Steps:

2. Prepare the IBM Lenovo serverguide 10.1 boot disk. There are two versions, one is Server 2008 and the other is server 2012. are all 64 bits.

The boot disk can be burned to a USB flash drive or disc.

3. Prepare the installation disk for Windows Server R2.

Burn to disc or burn to a USB stick, but the USB stick is preferably UEFI GPT type partition and FAT32 format, need to use Rufus to burn to u disk.

PS: Recommended burning CD-ROM installation, install Windows Server R2 can not use a USB flash drive.

4. Insert the bootable disc or the U-disk can, start the system, press F12 can select the corresponding boot device.

Installing Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 is similar, except that server guide is in version 2012. The server guide disk can be burned to the U-disk with Rufus.

However, the Windows Server R2 installation disk cannot use a USB flash drive and can only use DVD discs. This is my own conclusion after the installation.

Because Windows Server R2 SP1 is unstable, there is a blue screen and a restart problem, and there is a problem with the WMI ID 10 error. I re-installed Windows Server R2, the installation is complete after the driver installation, and relatively stable. But the network card management software shows the network card sequence is not the same as before, need attention.
