Many Linux beginners have just come from windows "immigrant" to Linux environment and operation that is strange and unfamiliar, how to let beginners quickly find the feeling, as soon as possible into the temple of Linux? Of course, first from the operating environment and the use of the habit of starting, familiar with the environment, the habit of operation can let beginners quickly start. The following I take the Red Flag Linux environment for example to DIY a familiar environment, so that Linux use more like Windows.
Large transformation of interface icon
Linux has many beautiful desktop themes, of which KDE_XP and Windows XP most like, the following author on the Red Flag Linux 4.1 installation KDE_XP style as an example, describes how to install the desktop theme on Red Flag Linux.
First, go to Http://zhaolinux.com/kdexp to download the kde_xp_full-0.9.tar.gz file to the/OPT directory, right-click the file, and select Extract. or enter the following command in the terminal:
#tar ZXVF kde_xp_full-0.9.tar.gz
After decompression into the kde_xp_full-0.9 directory, at this time there are three subdirectories Kde_xpstyle, Kde_xptheme,
icons, corresponding to the style, theme, icon. Enter the following command in the terminal:
#cd Kde_xptheme
#chmod 777 theme-install-kde.sh
#./theme-install-kde.sh
This will install the KED_XP desktop theme, the rest of the gourd painting gourd, enter the following command:
#cd/opt/kde_xp_full-0.9/kde_xpstyle
#chmod 777 style-install.sh
#./style-install.sh
#cd/opt/kde_xp_full-0.9/icons
#chmod 777 icons-install-kde.sh
#./icons-install-kde.sh
If everything works, the KDE_XP Theme for KDE installed is displayed in the terminal. Next, start configuring the desktop theme, click the "start → settings → control panel → view Configuration", which features "icon", "Window decoration" and "style".
After that, double click "Window Decoration", select "Icewm" in the window decoration, choose Kde_xp in the adornment option, and see if the window is turned into Windows XP style. Next, double-click "Style" and select "Kde_xp" in the "style → part style" Drop-down bar.
Finally, by double-clicking the icon, you can see a "KDE-XP" in the subject, select the option click OK. In this way, most of the icons on the desktop become Windows XP style, the remaining few unchanged icons can be modified in the following ways, first right-click the icon, select "Properties", click on the "General" under the large icon, you can choose the icon you like. (where the "My Computer" icon needs to be modified at the root) at this point, Windows XP's default desktop bliss has been installed under/root/.kde/share/wallpapers/, and after some setup, the desktop should look like Windows XP.
using Windows shortcut key scheme
I just started using Red Flag Linux, found in Windows with a good shortcut keys in Linux but failed, and even "show desktop" the most commonly used shortcut keys are "strike". The original Linux system has many sets of shortcuts, but the default is not the Windows solution.
Knowing the reason, the solution is quite simple. Click "Start"-"Settings"-"Control Panel", then double-click the "Shortcut", in the "Current scheme" drop-down menu, select the "Windows scheme" (according to their own keyboard, optional with the win key and do not take the win key two ways), according to determine the exit after the "strike" shortcut keys back again.
"My Documents" grand unification
Under normal circumstances, the author of the computer is windows+ Red Flag Linux dual System. It's customary to put some commonly used files in My Documents, but the Red Flag Linux and the My Documents directory under Windows are not uniform, and Windows cannot directly access the Linux partition, which can be a bit of a inconvenience to the operation.
The same "My Documents" can be perfectly shared by the following methods. First, drag the "My Documents" icon under Windows to/root/desktop and then release the left button, select "Link to current location (L)" In the Options menu that appears, and then rename the document to "mydocument" (without quotes; If you are prompted that the folder is already present, Please rename mydocument under the Desktop directory first. This enables you to point to the same folder as My Documents in the menu on the left side of my computer.
let Ark support RAR
Red Flag Linux has the best use of Linux under the graphical compression decompression software Ark, but in today's eyeful is a RAR compressed document network World, the default ark but does not support the RAR format is really regrettable.
But it doesn't matter, can go to http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm download the official latest version of RAR for Linux, will download back to the compression package decompression, into the terminal, enter the "make" command to complete the installation. In this way, RAR for Linux automatically integrated in the Ark, later double-click the RAR compression package will be directly called Ark Processing, very convenient bar.
Linux virtual Dragon
Often listen to friends complained that Linux under the windows as easy as the graphics of virtual optical drive and virtual floppy drive tools, virtual a hardware to enter a long string of commands, really troublesome. In fact, this problem with "virtual one-stop" can be easily done. "Virtual Dragon" is an open source enthusiasts independently developed a set of virtual optical drive, virtual floppy disk and virtual drive as one of the integrated virtual tool software.
Below, to introduce the "virtual one-stop" installation and use. First of all, to download Virtualdra gon-1.0-1.i386.rpm, after downloading the left button double-click the RPM package to complete the installation. Then open the software main interface by clicking the start → program →virtual virtual one-stop. The main interface has "virtual CD-ROM", "Virtual floppy", "Virtual Drive" three tab pages, the interface is shown in Figure 2.
Take the virtual CD-ROM as an example. First select the "Virtual Optical Drive" tab on the main screen, click "Open" to set the location of the ISO image file on your computer, and press "open" to confirm it. When you use the virtual optical drive, click Mount in the Action box to automatically eject the contents of the virtual post mirror.
When you open "My Computer", you will find that there is a "virtual optical drive" on your computer, and then you can operate as if you were using a normal CD-ROM. If you take a closer look, you will find the/mnt/directory more than a VCD folder, this is the virtual CD-ROM real directory. When not in use, click Uninstall on the main software interface.
Virtual floppy drive is similar to the virtual CD-ROM drive, the virtual completion of the same "My Computer" in the "virtual floppy" item, the real path is/MNT/VFB. The virtual floppy drive item also has the ability to write a floppy disk from the floppy disk/image file from a floppy diskette as shown in Figure 3.
To do this: first insert an empty floppy disk into the floppy drive and click "Open" to set the location of the IMG image file on your computer. Press "Open" to confirm, and then the "write floppy" in the Action box will enable you to write the floppy disk from the floppy drive, and, similarly, insert a floppy diskette with the content in it into the floppy drive and To make a mirrored file from a floppy disk (enter the Save path) box, enter the save path (default is/root/demo.img), and then click Make to complete the mirrored file from the floppy disk.
The last feature of the virtual one-stop is "virtual drive disk". This feature is the same as vfloopy under Windows. The difference is that the former is windows-based OS Loader and has limited mirroring size (1.44m/2.88m), and this program is based on Linux grub, which uses any sized mirror file, or even a mirrored image of. Gz.
Use the method by clicking open to set the location of the IMG image file on your computer and press "open" to confirm it. Then enter the title in the space below the "Please enter the startup item title (which will appear in the Grub menu)" (Default to "boot from Virtual floppy") and click "Add", and the prompt box will pop up, prompting you to take effect after the reboot, as shown in Figure 4.
After reboot, a "boot from virtual floppy" option will be available at the bottom of the Grub menu and the virtual boot disk will be entered directly after selecting and pressing ENTER. In the floppy drive gradually out of the installation standard equipped today, "virtual drive disk" will often play an unexpected function, the author recommends that you use.
In the actual operation, the author also found some deficiencies. For example, you must log on to the system as root to use the software. Current software can only simulate ISO and IMG files. But generally speaking, the "virtual one-stop" operation is simple, easy to use, embodies the human side of Linux, very suitable for beginners and lazy to enter a long string of command characters for Linux users to use.
