Restrictions on site collections

A SharePoint farm supports a maximum of 750,000 site collections, including 500,000 personal sites and 250,000 normal sites. Placing too many site rallies under a Web application consumes a lot of memory on WFE.

When you crawl a large number of site collections, search also causes a lot of memory usage on the WFE.

A safe practice is that when the memory of a Web application reaches 2GB, it should be recycle.

A maximum of 250,000 site collections are supported under a Web application. How big can a site collection be? It will take up the entire content database storage space, according to this statement, a site collection is best not more than 100GB.

A publishing site collection supports a maximum of 10 device channel.

A site collection can support up to 2 million users, which is more difficult to manage if it exceeds this number.

SharePoint supports a single file of 2GB maximum. You can set the size of the file that allows the user to upload the maximum, and the default limit for SharePoint 2013 is 250MB. Large files can take up too much storage space and can degrade farm performance.

A document library supports a maximum of 30 million documents.

A document can have a maximum of 400,000 major versions, if this limit is exceeded, then the most basic operation of the file may encounter problems, such as open, save, view history, delete and so on.

A file has a maximum of 511 minor versions.

A list can store a maximum of 30 million list items.

For a list item, there is a maximum of 6 rows of storage space in the database. You can increase this limit by modifying the settings of the Web application, but you will consume more storage space. (PowerShell command spwebapplication.maxlistitem-rowstorage.)

You can operate up to 100 entries at a time , such as bulk delete .

Editing Word and PowerPoint (. docx,. pptx,.ppsx) At the same time is best not to edit more than 10 people at the same time. While SharePoint supports up to 99 people editing at the same time, this can be an efficiency issue.
