1. Create an archive file

Tar CF Myfile.tar files/

C:create

F:file

2. View archived Files

TAR-TF Myfile.tar

3. Archive files for compression

(1.) GZ Compressed file

Tar-czf myfile.tar.gz File

TAR-XZF myfile.tar.gz//Decompression

Tar xzf myfile.tar.gz–c directory//unzip and copy the extracted results to the specified directory

(2.) bz2 Compressed Files

TAR-CJF myfile.tar.bz2 file///compressed to bz2 file

TAR-XJF myfile.tar.bz2//Unzip bz2 file

TAR-JTF myfile.tar.bz2//view bz2 file contents

4. View the compressed file size
