  1. Command format:

    gzip [options] file or directory

  2. Command function:

    Compress or decompress a file

  3. common options:

         -F   forcibly compress or decompress, ignoring the existence of a file name or a hard connection and whether the file is a symbolic connection

         -n   compress files, save the original file name and timestamp

         -1~9   = Compression ratio, 1 minimum but fast compression, 9 maximum But slow compression, default is 6

  4. Common examples:

    Example one: Compressing file files via gzip

    Command:gzip file

    Note: The original file will disappear at this time

    Example two: Unzip the file file.gz

    Command:gzip-d file.gz or gunzip file.gz
