  1. Command format:

    WC [Options] File

  2. Command function:

    Number of rows, words, and bytes of the statistics file

  3. Common options:

    - C statistics byte number

    - L count rows

    - W statistical number of words

  4. Common examples:

    Example one: View the number of rows, words, and bytes of a file

    Command: WC File

    Note: The default is the count of rows, words and bytes


    Example two: Requires viewing the number of rows in a file, but does not display the file name

    Command: Cat File | wc-l

    Example three: Count the number of files in the current directory

    Command: Ls-l | wc-l
