Linux boot up error give root password for maintenance (or type control-d to continue):
The first kind of error condition:
Unable to enter the system properly due to incorrect editing of the/etc/fstab file. If you set the last parameter of a partition or disk to 1 or 2 o'clock, the system will check the sector of this disk by default during the boot process. If the system does not check the disk, or if the disk is not detected at all (especially when networked storage), then the system will error, resulting in this situation. Workaround: Enter the root password, the entire file system is a read-only system, can not modify the file, first use the following command to change the file system to a writable file system: Mount-o REMOUNT,RW/Then comment out the disk corresponding to the error, or change the last parameter to 0. Then exit the save and finally reboot.
Second case: partition problem due to improper shutdown method.
NO such device or address while trying to open/dev/hdb1 first take advantage of the command: Fsck/dev/hdax after reboot.
