Linux--NTP server configuration

The/etc/linux ntp.conf system-config-date network Time Protocol (Linux NTP, web-hour protocol) is used to synchronize all of its client clock services. The Linux NTP server synchronizes the clock of the local system with a common Linux NTP server and then serves as a time host so that all clients on the local network can synchronize clocks.

The biggest advantage of synchronous clock is the data in the log files on the related system, if the network uses central log host to centrally manage the log, the result of the log can reflect the real situation more. In the synchronized clock network, centralized performance monitoring, service monitoring system can respond to system information in real-time, system administrator can quickly detect and resolve system errors.

    • The time server uses 3 different ways to proofread time with other servers using the UDP123 port:

  • NTP Service Installation

    RPM-IVH ntp-4.2.2p1-8.el5.i386.rpm

    Yum-y Install ntp.i*

    NTP Service Offload

    Rpm-e ntp-4.2.2p1-8.el5.i386.rpm

    Yum-y Remove ntp.i*

  • NTP service configuration: Master configuration file/etc/ntp.conf

  • NTP service start, pause, reload, view current status

    Service NTPD Start

    Service NTPD Stop

    Service NTPD Restart

    Service NTPD Reload

    Service ntpd status650) this.width=650; "Src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/49/A6/ Wkiol1qxy5fcrbyraajaw3cms5w588.png "title=" C.png "alt=" Wkiol1qxy5fcrbyraajaw3cms5w588.png "/>

  • Graphical interface Configuration NTP

Using the system-config-date--option, Network Time protocol, synchronize system clock before starting service.

  • Windows client and Linux client configuration method for time synchronization via NTP server

Linux platform client: ntpdate 192.168.0.10 (NTP server address), configured for permanent use through the System-config-date interface.

    Windows Platform Client:

Reference command:

    1. Ntpstat: Show NTP server-related status

    2. NTPQ: Starting a standard NTP query

    3. Ntpdate: Specifies an NTP server that is now time-proofing, which must run as root on the local host.

    4. Ntptrace: Trace the network Timing Protocol host chain to their control time source. This command determines where the upper NTP server gets the time and follows the NTP server chain to their control time source.

    5. Hwclock: Displays and sets the hardware clock, in Linux there are two types of clocks, the hardware clock and the system clock.
