Linux operating system installation
Chapter 3LinuxOperating System Installation
Because I have always used CentOS, this installation system is also based on CentOS. Insert the disc into the optical drive and enable the bios Optical Drive. Enter the welcome page of the CD.

There are two options. You can press enter directly or enter linux text on the current interface and press Enter. The former is installed under the image, and can be moved with the mouse, while the latter is in the form of pure text. We recommend that you use the former for installation. After you press enter, the following page appears:

This step prompts you whether to verify the disc. The purpose is to check whether the installation package in the disc is complete or whether it has been changed. Generally, this step is not required for a regular CD because it takes too much time. Next:

There is nothing to explain in this step. Just click "Next"

Here is the language used to install the system. I am used to English. Of course, you can also select Chinese (Simplified Chinese). Click "Next"

The appropriate keyboard is selected here. We usually use an English keyboard, so we don't need to move it here. By default, we can directly "Next"

At this point, you will be prompted that the following partitions will initialize the disk, and data on the disk will be lost. Ask if you want to initialize the device and clear the data on the disk. Select Yes because it is an empty disk"

In this step, the partition is ready. There are four ways to choose from.

First, remove all partitions from the selected disk and then partition by default;
Second, remove all linux partitions from the selected disk (If windows format partitions are available on the disk, they are not removed), and then partition by default;
Third, only the idle part is used on the selected disk and partitioned by default;
Fourth, user-defined.
Here we choose the fourth type. Then "Next"

Next, the partition is very flexible, but it is generally based on this rule (this is the point on the server, if you are a virtual machine, please refer to the following part ):

/Boot partition 100 M

2 times the memory of the Swap partition. If the value is greater than or equal to 4 GB, 4 GB is required.

/Partition to 20 GB

Free Space for/data

Note: The/boot partition is the file required for system startup. It is similar to the windows directory in drive C of windows. The file in this partition is not large, and only MB is required. Swap partitions are Swap partitions. When the memory is insufficient, the system uses this part of space as the memory. /Partition is actually a root directory, which will be introduced in later sections. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it now, as long as you know there is such a thing. /Data is a custom partition that stores data.

If you are installing a virtual machine and you only have 8 GB disk space, we recommend that you partition the disk as follows:

1/boot 100 M

2. Two times of swap memory

3/all remaining space

After partitioning, click "Next"

You can check the password before Use a boot loader. This option is used to add a password to the boot loader. To prevent someone from entering the single-user mode through the CD, modify the root password.

The options below can also be checked. I have never used this function. If you are interested, you can study it. Next step

This step configures the NIC information. You can now customize the IP address of the NIC and configure the host name. It is obtained through DHCP by default. You can also click manually to customize a host name, such as mail.example.com. If neither of these methods is configured, linux will configure a 10 thousand-bit host name for you, that is, the remaining number of localhost. localdomain does not need to be configured. It is left blank by default.

Next, select the time zone. In this case, select the time zone Asia/Chongqing. If there is no Chongqing, select Asia/Shanghai.

Continue to the next step

Define a root password here and proceed to the next step.

Here we need to select the package to be installed, I am used to custom installation, You need to click "customize now" and then next

View "Desktop Environments" on the right and remove the check box before GNOME. This is actually the installation package for the graphic interface. If you do not remove this check box, the graphic interface will be installed.

"Applications" are not included except the Editors check box.

"Development" must be checked

"Servers" and all of the following items are not checked, and then the next step

Click Next and the system will start to install.

After the meeting

Now, the linux system has been installed. Next, click "Reboot" to restart and go to the linux system.
