There is no mouse on the command line in Linux, so all operations can only be done via the keyboard. So, for our technical staff, just start learning Linux, is a pain and happy feeling it!

When learning Linux, there are a lot of shortcut keys. These shortcuts can speed up our efficiency, and it's also a fun thing to do. Today, I've sorted out some of the more recently used shell shortcuts to encourage you.


  • CTRL + A: The cursor moves to the beginning of the line at which the cursor is.

  • Ctrl+e: The cursor moves to the end of the line at which the cursor was.

  • Ctrl+l: Clears the terminal. =clear.

  • Ctrl+d: Log off, disconnect at the remote terminal. =exit.

  • Ctrl+u: Clears the contents of the screen, leaving the line where the cursor is located.

  • CTRL+ALT+FN: Switch terminal shell,n=1~6,7 to graphical interface.

  • Ctrl+k: Deletes the content after the row cursor.

  • ↑ on the keyboard and ↓: Invoke command history.

  • right mouse button: Paste, remote terminal can be selected with the left mouse button (display highlighting) that is copied.

  • Tab: Completion command, complete command or file name.

  • Ctrl+alt+delete: Shutdown, restart

  • Ctrl+r: Find recent related history commands based on search

  • !: Related recently executed commands

  • !$: Last field of previous command
