In the Linux Wacom Project, there are two drivers: wacom. o and wacom_drv.o. The first driver is the USB Kernel Driver, and the second driver is the wacom driver of xFree86 (or xorg. The user of the serial device only needs to pay attention to the second driver, while the user of the USB device needs the two drivers. (There are two drivers in the Linux Wacom Project-wacom. o and wacom_drv.o. the first driver is the USB kernel driver. the second driver is the XFree86 Wacom driver. serial users need only be concerned with the wacom_drv.o driver. USB users need both .)

If you do not have the official linuxwacom installation package for Linux, You need to manually compile the linuxwacom driver. The driver source code can be found at http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net.

First, if XF86Config/XF86Config-4 or xorg. conf already has lines related to wacom, comment on or delete them. After completing related operations, restart X.

Note: If the system uses the 2.4 kernel without any need to use the 2.4 kernel, you can skip the steps to upgrade the kernel to 2.6.8 or later. (Note: If your system is running a 2.4 kernel and you don't have any application required to run on kernel 2.4, upgrading your kernel to version 2.6 (preferablely 2.6.8 or later) may save you the steps to update wacom kernel related modules. if you are running on FC3 or Mandriva for kernel 2.6, you need to configure the kernel modules (wacom and hid) under your kernel source directory before authentication ing linuxwacom .)

To compile the kernel module, you must install the kernel source code in the system. If you are using Redhat or Mandriva, you can install the RPM package named kernel-source. (In order to build kernel modules, you will need the kernel source installed on your system. if you are running on Redhat or Mandriva, you can get it by installing the kernel-source RPM .)

If you encounter any problem that the kernel cannot identify wacom products, you can try to replace the kernel file with the relevant files in the src directory of linuxwacom source code, re-compile and install the kernel.

Run the following command to check whether the kernel correctly controls the wacom device.
More/proc/bus/usb/devices
More/proc/bus/input/devices

Note: If the driver of the wacom device is usbhid or driver = (none) instead of driver = wacom, officially recommended to use linuxwacom source code src directory under the relevant Kernel Directory of the hid-core.c to replace the hid-core.c in the kernel source code.

After kernel problems are solved, you can compile and install the source code of linuxwacom, which is similar to the general source code installed in linux. Then, you can use the wacdump tool installed by default in linuxwacom to test the work of The wacom product on the kernel driver. Even if the kernel does not correctly understand the wacom product, you can compile this tool to test the tool to help identify problems.

Then correctly configure XF86Config/XF86Config-4 or xorg. conf, restart, you can use the wacom product.
