Linux getting started Tutorial: install and use sogou PinYin Input Method in Ubuntu 14.04

In the Ubuntu Kylin system, the sogou Pinyin input method is installed by default, but not in the native Ubuntu system. It can be understood that, after all, the Linux version of sogou's input method has a great deal of credit from the Kylin team. Because the sogou input method is indeed much easier to use than other Chinese Input Methods in Linux, I decided to install sogou Input Method in my Ubuntu 14.04 system.

It is essential that the input methods in the Linux system are built on the input method framework. The input method framework and the specific input method are available first. A framework usually has multiple input methods, and a framework often has multiple input methods. In the history of Linux, there have been many input methods frameworks, such as SCIM, fcitx, and IBus. As the saying goes, "Jiangshan generation has talents, and each leads the way ** years", the input method framework has been replaced frequently. For example, the once popular SCIM Input Method Framework is now almost exhausted. In the latest Ubuntu and Fedora systems, the IBus framework is used by default, but the sogou input method is built on the fcitx Input Method Framework.

Fortunately, the Default Input Method Framework in Linux can be configured, or the fcitx Input Method Framework Package is available in the Ubuntu software source. In "system settings-> language support", you can select the Input Method Framework. For example:

As you can see, my Ubuntu 14.04 system uses the IBus Input Method Framework by default, and I chose the SunPinYin input method and the five-point 86 input method.

Before installing the sogou input method, you must first install the fcitx Input Method Framework, for example:

After installing the fcitx Input Method Framework and setting the system, the system interface may remain unchanged. This is normal because the Input Method Framework starts along with the X Window System. Therefore, you need to unregister it and then you can see the following results.
