Say the difference between ifconfig and/etc/network/interfaces two commands for IP modification
(1) Command: ifconfig eth0 IP
Fconfig changes to the network configuration information is effective immediately, that is, the input of the corresponding command immediately, but the network card configured with the Ifconfig command information, after the network adapter restarts after the machine restarts, the configuration does not exist. In order to keep the above configuration information in the computer forever, it is necessary to modify the network card configuration file, that is, modify/etc/network/interfaces.
(2) Command: Cd/etc/network enter the path;
Nano interfaces into IP modify command line;
Ctrl+o Preservation;
Ctrl+x exit;
Service network restart (or reboot) restarts the network, which takes effect.
/etc/network/interfaces is the configuration file of the network card, this file will be read in the system when the network parameters and application of the network interface, the file can be modified with text editing tools such as Vim or nano, but the modification is only the configuration file, will not take effect immediately. To take effect, in addition to rebooting the system (reboot, which is equivalent to restarting network), you can also use the service network restart to restart the networking configuration.
