Linux Mint (Application Software-Virtual Machine: Virtualbox)

Recently, I want to take a look at the Linux system itself, such as Linux cutting or porting. Cutting or porting Linux is troublesome, and the current system will be affected when an error occurs. How can we avoid affecting the system on the current machine, so we thought of virtual machines. Install a virtual machine in the current system, and then you can try your best on the virtual machine.

Before installing a virtual machine, select a virtual machine. The common Virtual Machine in Linux is Wine. Strictly speaking, it is simulating the Windows environment. I want to toss the Linux system, so I gave up Wine.

I have used VMware before. Needless to say, it is a powerful virtual machine, but it is commercial software and can be used only after purchase. Therefore, VMware is also abandoned.

Finally, I chose Vitualbox, which is small and practical and powerful. The most important thing is that it is open source software. It is perfect to use open-source software in the Linux field. Next, let's talk about how to install the virtual machine.

Install Virtual Machine: virtualbox1. open the terminal and switch to the root account. Then enter the installation command:

Apt-get install virtualbox

2. Install the recommended software package: (this package must be installed, otherwise the application icon will not be visible)

Virtualbox-dkms virtualbox-source virtualbox-qt

3. After the installation is complete, you can see the virtualbox icon in the application. Virtual Machine: virtualbox1. Create a virtual machine.
Click the create button in the menu to create a virtual machine;

2.Set the virtual machine type.
In the displayed window, select the name, type, and version of the created virtual machine, and click Next. I have prepared a Linux system, so I chose a 32-bit inittun, as shown in details:

3. Set the memory of the VM.
In the pop-up window, set the VM memory size. You can directly write a number or drag the ruler to select the size. After setting, click Next. Of course, the larger the memory is, the better, but it cannot exceed the current physical memory. My physical memory is 4 GB, so I set 1 GB memory for the virtual machine. Details are shown in:

4. Set the hard disk type of the VM. <喎?http: www.bkjia.com kf ware vc " target="_blank" class="keylink"> Drawing/a1tDRodTxJmxkcXVvO8/drawing/bSu7j2tLC/drawing + tc/xo6zL/drawing + o6zP6s + 4yOfPws28y/drawing = "Write picture description here" src = "http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/160301/0403062R6-2.png" title = "\" />

5 Set the hard disk capacity of the VM.
In the pop-up window, select "fixed size" (in this case, the system performance will be better .), Click Next. A new window is displayed, in which you can set the disk capacity and location. Click Next after setting. This process lasts for about 1-2 minutes. After the hard disk is created, the virtual machine is created. Hard disk files are stored in the home/usr_name/VirtualBox VMs/directory by default. The hard disk size does not need to be too large. I am going to install Ubuntu14.04LTS in the Virtual Machine. For this system, the officially recommended hard disk capacity is 8 GB. In fact, it will be better to use 12 GB. Detailed operations are shown in:

6. The VM is successfully created.
The Virtual Machine is successfully created. It is equivalent to simulating a computer. We can install the system on this computer that we want to toss. Below is the thumbnail of the virtual machine I created.

System, I want to install a newer and stable version of the system, so I chose Ubuntu14.04LTS. In this blog series, I introduced how to install Mint using virtual machines. The process of installing Ubuntu is exactly the same as that of installing Mint. Therefore, I will not talk about the detailed installation process. If you are not clear about it, click here to refer to my previous blog.

I will introduce the virtual machine here. I will share some other tips in the future.
