This section uses the Ethernet pppoe modem to set up an ADSL Internet connection.
You will require a subscribe with an Internet service provider, and an installed, functional Internet connection. most modems have a light which will be available if it is currently connected to the Internet. you will also need your username and password for the Internet account.

4.2.1. Configure pppoe for ingress
To set a modem:
1.
Start a terminal (ApplicationProgramAttachment attachment Terminal)

On the terminal, enter
Sudo pppoeconf

A text-based menu program will guide you through the following steps:
1. confirm that your Ethernet card has been detected.
2. Enter your user name.
3. enter your password.
4. If you have configured a pppoe connection, you will be asked if you need to change its settings.
5. Popular options: you are asked if you want the "noauth" and "defaultroute" options and to remove "nodetach". Choose Yes.
6. Use peer DNS-select YES.
7. Limited MSS problem-select YES.
8. When you are asked whether to connect at startup, you usually want to select "yes ".
9. Finally, you will be asked if you want to establish a connection immediately.

Once you have completed these steps, your connection will be available.
4.2.2. Disconnect to open the connection
To enable your ADSL connection, type:
Sudo Pon DSL-provider

To stop your ADSL connection, type:
Sudo poff DSL-provider
