Linux Server disable ping and open ping

Source: Internet

Modify the/proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_all content to 1 to disable ping content for 0 to turn on Ping.

Sysctl-w net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_all=1 The effect of this order is ibid.

There is another way to use the iptables-in Ping.

Iptables-a input-p ICMP--icmp-type 8-s 0/0-j DROP

The ping command works by sending an ICMP request message to the destination IP and then the destination IP to reply to an ICMP message. The above command is to use the Iptables discard the requested ICMP packet, to achieve the ping-ban effect.

All of the above 3 methods are temporary modifications that fail after the machine restarts. Change the/etc/sysctl.conf file if you want to be permanently active

Add in the/etc/sysctl.conf file

Net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_all = 1

Then execute sysctl-p
