Linux User Management Common commands

In This article we talk about user management related content, involving/etc/passwd,/etc/shadow,/etc/group three user account related files and the following user management related commands: Useradd, Usermod, Userdel, passwd, Groupadd, Groupdel, id, su, chage, Chfn, Chsh, Newgrp, gpasswd.

• ①account: User Name

• ②password: Password placeholder

• ③UID: User ID number

• ④gid: Base Group ID number

• ⑤gecos: Comment Information

• ⑥directory: Home Directory

• ⑦shell: Default Shell

• ①login Name: User name

• ②encrypted Password: encrypted password

• ③days since Jan 1, 1970 that password is last changed: time of the most recent password change

• ④days before password may be changed: minimum term of use

• ⑤days after which password must be changed: maximum lifespan

• ⑥days before password is to expire, user is warned: Warning time

• ⑦days after password expires the account is disabled: inactivity time

• ⑧days since Jan 1, 1970, is disabled: expiry time

• ⑨a reserved field: Reserved area, not used
