If you press SHIFT + F8 in the extended selection list box, the extended selection mode is enabled. In this mode, you can use the arrow keys to move the cursor without changing the selection. You can press Ctrl + Space key or SHIFT + Space key to adjust the selection. To cancel the extension selection mode, press SHIFT + F8 again. When you move the focus to another control, the extended selection mode is automatically canceled.
