In XP, the location of this parameter in the registry is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --- software --- Oracle -- home

 

In win 7, the location of this variable has changed:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ wow6432node \ oracle \ key_oradb11g_home1
