Should I use%s or%r?

You should use%s and use%r only if you want to get debug information for something. %r gives you the "original programmer version" of the variable, also known as "representation". Why does "one" need to be quoted, while True and False are not required? Because True and False is a Python keyword that is used to denote the meaning of true and false.  If you add quotation marks, they become strings, and they will not be able to implement their original functions. The escape sequence after using%r is not working. Because%r prints out the original string you wrote in the code, which contains the original escape character. You should use%s to remember this: '%r ' is used as debug, '%s ' as a display.
