First Category: Enable shortcut keys
Press the key or key combination until the desired feature appears (for example, hold Option down during startup until the startup manager is started, or hold down shift until a "safe boot" appears). Tip: If the startup feature does not work and you are using a Third-party keyboard, connect the Apple keyboard and try again.

Option Displays all bootable volumes (startup manager)
Shift performs a secure boot (started in safe mode)
C Boot from bootable disk (DVD, CD)
T starts in FireWire target disk mode
