Major message: Does SQL Server support Linux?
In fact, nearly 1/4 of Microsoft's cloud service Azure is provided by the Linux operating system. However, we cannot run Microsoft software on Linux servers. This is really embarrassing.
But this week, Microsoft finally began to make changes. Scott Guthrie, head of Microsoft, said in his blog: soon we will be able to run Microsoft's SQL Server database software on Linux servers. Although it is only SQL Server, it is at least a good start.
However, Microsoft also said that on Linux, it is likely that only some components of SQL Server can be run. Other components, Microsoft said, require users to make timely feedback during use, and then make corresponding decisions.
Although Microsoft does not open source code like other companies, it is a big change for Microsoft to allow its own software to run on Linux systems. We expect Microsoft to provide more support for Linux in the future. This is what a big company looks like.
