By default, Windows XP remembers the settings for the last 400 folders. If you set up more than 400 folders, the earliest folder settings will be lost. Can you get Windows XP to remember more folder views? By modifying the registry, we can arbitrarily set the maximum number of folders it remembers:
Open Registry Editor, expand the [Hkey_ current _usersoftwaremicrosoftwindowsshell] branch in turn, and in the right window the subkey "BagMRU Size" (REG_DWORD type, if not created first) The value is modified for you to set the maximum number of folder views to allow the system to remember (for convenience, you can change to decimal before entering a quantity, such as "1000").
Next, expand in sequence [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Softwaremicrosoft
WINDOWSSHELLNOROAM] Branch, also modifies the value of the subkey "BagMRU Size" in the right-hand window to the maximum number of folder views you want to set to allow the system to remember. When you have finished modifying, quit Registry Editor, restart your computer, or log on again to take effect.
Tip: If Windows XP fails to remember folder settings correctly, you can clear all of the folder settings (that is, delete the "BagMRU" and "Bags" two subkeys in Registry Editor) before making any of these changes.
