Make network management more efficient from real-time monitoring

In a relatively large networking environment, network administrators usually manage and maintain LAN networks in a huge amount of work. How can they free up from these trivial and complex maintenance tasks, it must be something that every network manager is very concerned about. As a network administrator, are you still in the network connection status of your LAN workstation?

If a network fault occurs in the LAN, do you still use the Ping command to test the connectivity of the faulty workstation one by one when you are new to the network? Obviously, in a large-scale LAN environment, when the network administrator alone manually manages and maintains the network, the workload is undoubtedly quite huge, in addition, the network management efficiency is not high. Do you want to manage and maintain your local network in a more concise and easy way? In fact, with the help of professional network tools, you can monitor the connection status of workstations in the LAN network in real time, which makes network management and maintenance very easy.

No, the NetControl tool is your helper. You can add all workstations and other important network devices in your LAN to an electronic topology, the NetControl tool then monitors the network connectivity status of each workstation in the electronic topology graph in real time and dynamically displays the dynamically monitored results, then you can see from the electronic topology at a Glance where the local area network has a connectivity fault, so that you can quickly and efficiently solve the network fault.

Set real-time monitoring parameters

When NetControl is used to monitor the connectivity status of the LAN workstation in real time, we naturally need to download the tool from the Internet and install it regularly. After the installation is complete, you also need to set its immediate monitoring parameters to ensure that the tool can monitor the occurrence of network faults in the first time. The most important parameter is the monitoring interval setting. If you set this value to a large value at will, the NetControl tool dynamically monitors the sensitivity of LAN workstations in real time, on the contrary, if this value is set to an hour, the NetControl tool will scan and test the lan network frequently, which may affect the running performance of the LAN network. When you set the monitoring interval parameter, follow these steps:

First, double-click the NetControl shortcut icon on the system desktop in the monitoring host to open the main operation interface of the program, and click the "edit" option in the menu bar, click the "parameter" command from the drop-down menu to open the "parameter selection" setting window.

The "interval [seconds]" parameter in the setting window refers to the interval between NetControl program scanning and testing each network device and workstation in the LAN under dynamic monitoring, this parameter is usually set according to the running conditions of the LAN. This value cannot be set too large or too small, in general, we can set this parameter value to 60, that is, scanning and testing the lan network every one minute.

The "time active" parameter indicates the duration of the data packet sent by the NetControl program to test the connectivity of network devices through the Ping command; the "information packet size [byte]" parameter refers to the size of data packets transmitted in each IP address; the "Rest Time" parameter refers to the maximum response time for network timeout, the unit of this parameter is millisecond. The setting of this parameter also varies depending on the running status of the network. For example, if you set this parameter to a large value, the expected dynamic monitoring results may not be available. If you set the value of this parameter for an hour, the results of dynamic monitoring may be somewhat inaccurate, normally, this value can be set to 2000-5000.

Monitor network connectivity

During real-time monitoring of workstations or network devices in a LAN network, we also need to draw a complete electronic topology map based on the actual network structure of the LAN network, these network devices or workstations added to the electronic topology will be immediately monitored by the NetControl program in the future. Therefore, we should maintain the network according to the actual situation, to add workstations or network devices that are often prone to failures to the electronic topology. To add a workstation or network device to an electronic topology, follow these steps:

Start the NetControl program, click the "workstation" button in the toolbar of the program interface, move the mouse pointer to the blank area of the program interface, and then click the left mouse button, the setting window appears on the screen.

In the displayed Name text box in the settings window, enter the description of the target workstation, and enter the host name or IP address of the target workstation in the address/Name text box. Then, enter the comments of the target workstation in the "information" text box, such as the current location of the target workstation and the attribute information of the target workstation, with this information, we can quickly find the faulty workstation when a network fault occurs in the LAN, thus improving the efficiency of solving the lan network fault.

After confirming that the preceding information is entered correctly, select the "Monitor" option in the corresponding settings window and click "OK, then you can see a small computer icon on the NetControl interface. When you move the mouse pointer over the icon, the NetControl program will automatically display the parameter information of the previously set workstation in the status bar, so that we can conveniently view the detailed attribute information of the LAN workstation, this helps us quickly locate the cause of the fault. If an incorrect workstation device is added, we can delete it. When deleting a workstation device, we can click Select tool on the toolbar of the NetControl program interface, click the icon of the workstation to be deleted, and then click the "edit"/"delete" command in the menu bar to delete the selected workstation icon from the electronic topology.

In the same way, we can add all workstations and network devices in the LAN to the electronic topology. After adding all workstations, we can adjust the placement of workstations and network devices in the electronic topology according to the actual placement of LAN workstations and network devices, you can drag the workstation and network device icon to a proper position with the mouse, and then release the left mouse button. After adjusting the positions of each device in the electronic topology, you can click "Straight Line" or "circle" in the toolbar on the NetControl interface, connect each workstation or network device according to the actual network conditions, so that we have a complete lan network topology.

In the future, the NetControl program will periodically send Ping data packets to each device in the electronic topology Diagram Based on the monitoring parameters we have set. At the same time, the monitoring test results will be displayed in the electronic topology diagram in a timely manner, you only need to view the electronic topology to quickly find out whether a connectivity fault has occurred to the workstation in the current lan network, we only need to move the mouse pointer to the faulty workstation icon, and then according to the status attribute information automatically popped up by the NetControl program, we can quickly find the fault location and take effective measures to correct it, in this way, the management efficiency of the LAN network will be greatly improved.

Tips

Net Control is a simple and easy-to-use powerful network administrator remote Control tool for schools, offices, homes and other local networks. Its main feature is its ability to simultaneously manipulate several workstations. This program has the following functions: program management-the ability to run/Stop remote computer programs, setting the client program running permissions, remote program running/abort administrator prompts, and so on; file Management-allows you to copy, delete, rename, and move files on multiple computers at the same time. Remote Desktop functions; internet Access Control-allows/disables internet access, performs email, ftp, and other operations.

Shutdown management-restart, shutdown, and wol lan wake-up functions; system restriction management-Administrators can set permissions for remote client access control panel projects, start menus, and network properties; chat and send information-the administrator can chat with client users, send text information, send and display images, and play audio files. The new version has built-in remote desktop tools, new toolbar styles, and new software interfaces, supports color themes, and fixes several bugs.
