Create a Managed MetadataService Application

 

SharePoint Managed Metadata Service is a very important and widely used Service in SharePoint. Some functions of User Profile Service Application and Search ServiceApplication depend on it.

 

To create a Managed Metadata Service Application, log on to the Central Administration as farmadministrator. In ApplicationManagement section, click Manage service applications:

On Ribbon, click New and choose Managed Metadata Service Application,

 

Enter the name of the Managed metadata service application and configure a database connection:

 

Managed Metadata Service Application requires an ApplicationPool.

In the Application Pool option, select create a new Application Pool, enter the name, and select an account of the Application pool. Generally, do not share the Application Pool between Service applications.

 

 

 

Click OK. After the creation, click the Manage on Ribbon to go to the Management page.

The management Metadata hierarchy is:

Term Store-> Term group-> TermSet-> term ...,

Click it to create one layer.
