Before introducing Sybase uninstallation, I will analyze the reasons for uninstalling Sybase first. There are two reasons: I don't need to use the sybase database, and I want to uninstall it completely. In this case, you can skip the first part and directly go to the second part-completely uninstall Sybase. Another type is that I want to use it, but Sybase cannot work normally. For example, the Sybase service cannot be started normally. In fact, if this problem occurs, we do not only need to uninstall and reinstall this solution. You may try the following methods.

Part 1: Sybase repair (for cases where the service cannot be enabled normally ).

1. Remove the original Adaptive Server, backupserver, and monitor server by directly clicking remove adaptive (backup, monitor) server.

(If you cannot find this window, refer to the configuration of sybase12.5 server and client in my previous blog in Windows)

2. Clear the Registry
To ensure that the modified Database Server servername is the same as the original one, we recommend that you delete the original server name in the registry. The procedure is as follows:
I still use the test server created in the previous blog as an example.

Start -- run (or use the shortcut key win + r), enter regedit, and enter the registry. Open the following directory in sequence:

\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Sybase \ Server

Find the files related to test and delete them all.

3. Build server again
The specific creation steps have been described in detail in the previous blog and will not be described here.

Part 2: completely uninstall Sybase.

1. Stop the Adaptive Server Service: start -- program -- management tool 1 service, enter the service window, and double-click Sybase sqlserver_test (there are several other test-related services ). Click "stop" to stop the service and set the start type to manual.

2. restart the computer and release the DLL used by adaptivoscrvcr.

3. Enter the Regedit command in the start line to start the Registry utility and delete the following content:
\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ sybaseserver

\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ sybaseserver \ _ BS

\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ sybaseserver \ _ HS

\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ sybaseserver \ _ MS

Go to the registry in the following structure:
\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ sessionmanager \ Environment

Delete dslisten, dsquery, Sybase, and modify Lib, include, and path to delete Sybase directories.

Delete the following registered key values:
\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services
Sybsql _
Sybxps1_xp
Sybbck__bs
Sybmonstmms
Sybhis__hs
Restart the computer.

Finally, delete all Sybase files in the Sybase installation directory. So far, Sybase is completely uninstalled!
