The specific procedures are as follows:
1. Open the MathType formula Editor software into the edit state, whether you are inserted from Word to open or double-click on the desktop of the MathType application icon has no effect. Here you can see that the background of the edit area is white, which is also the default working color of MathType.

2. In the MathType menu bar, select Preset-Workspace presets.

3. After entering the workspace preset, a "Workspace preset" dialog box pops up, and in the lower part of the dialog box, there is a "color" feature that we see in the "Background" column where the color is white and click the "Change" button behind the "background".

4. In the color palette, choose the color you want, such as gray, if the above color is not the color you want, you can also click on the panel "defined custom Color", in the pop-up color panel select the color you want to click "OK".

5. Click "OK" in the color panel to return to the "Workspace Presets" dialog box, we will see the "background" color becomes our choice of gray, and then click "OK."
