Maxthon but I must use the browser every day, if it really supports RSS, then only use it to achieve web browsing and viewing RSS news two features, so why do you install another RSS tool? You know, opening Maxthon and another RSS tool simultaneously takes up more of the system resources and switches between different windows. One, add RSS feed

After trial, there are two ways to add an RSS feed in Maxthon.

1. Create by hand

This method adds a new category manually and then adds a specific RSS feed to the new category. Maxthon can directly drag and drop the RSS feed in the Web page to the RSS sidebar, so it is very convenient. Take Tenkine For example (there may already be a Tenkine category in the sidebar, and if so, we'll build another category "Tenkine 2") to show how to create it manually.

Before adding an RSS feed, you should find a Web site that supports RSS feeds. Baidu search engine can be entered in the "RSS" or similar keyword search. Here we open the Tenkine aggregation Information Subscription Web page for practice, which focuses on the Tenkine RSS feed. You can see some small orange icons labeled "XML" on the Web page, and that's it.

Right-click the space in the RSS sidebar, select Add New category from the menu, select "Create by Hand" in the "Add New RSS Category" dialog box, and enter the name "Tenkine 2" and click OK.

The RSS sidebar has the category "Tenkine 2" and is open. "Tenkine 2" is a big category, and then we're going to add RSS feeds to this big category, and then we'll rely on these RSS feeds to update and browse the latest information. Next, you can drag the RSS feed from the Web page (that is, a small icon labeled XML to the RSS sidebar). For example, drag the XML icon to the right of the "news Bus" and the RSS Feed dialog box appears when you release the mouse to the RSS sidebar. The default name, URL, category already appears in the dialog box. If you want Maxthon to automatically update news links, you need to select Automatic Updates and set the time for Automatic Updates. setting is complete, click OK, the subcategory "News Bus" appears in the sidebar. Click the news bus, and a list of news links for that category appears below. Clicking an item in the list opens the link in Maxthon.

You can try dragging all of the RSS feeds from this page to the RSS sidebar. In addition, if you right-click the XML picture in the page, select Copy shortcut, then right-click in the RSS sidebar, select Add link from the menu, and the RSS Feed dialog box will be displayed, and then paste the copied shortcut in the input box to the right of the URL. You can also add RSS feeds, but this method is obviously less intuitive than the direct drag-and-drop approach. This direct drag-and-drop approach provided by Maxthon makes it easy and convenient for users to create RSS feeds manually.

2. Use OPML

If the site provides OPML, it will be more convenient for us to add RSS feeds.

(Note: opml--outline Processor Markup Language, an "Outline processing Markup Language" based on XML, used primarily to describe the structure of a piece of information that might be a list of proposals, Yellow Pages, or a MP3 playlist.) If each software can follow the OPML format for the processing of data input, output, then this information can be transferred between different software systems, so that different software to achieve direct "dialogue." In RSS, the main purpose of OPML is to exchange RSS feeds. A OPML file can contain a lot of RSS feed information, and by importing a OPML to add RSS news links is much easier than the manual addition mentioned above. So a good RSS reader should support the import of OPML files, making it a time-consuming and laborious task to add RSS feeds. )

For example, http://rss.ccw.com.cn provides the OPML file, which is a few small blue icons. Right-click on the OPML in the page, select Copy shortcut from the menu, then right-click in Maxthon's RSS sidebar, select Add New category from the menu, and select "Create from OPML URL or file" in the pop-up add new RSS category. Then paste the copied shortcuts in the box below, as shown in the following figure. Click OK.

The right-click menu makes it easy to use RSS feeds, categories for management, as shown in the following figure, the right button on an RSS feed, there will be a shortcut menu, with the words of the link to the RSS feed to operate, with the words of the category is the RSS feed to the large class to operate.

1, update the link

Click this command to manually update the RSS feed. The Feed list is displayed immediately below.

2. Edit link

Click this command to open the RSS Feed dialog box, which allows you to edit the RSS feed information again.

3, delete the link

For example, select "Network traffic" in the image above, and use this command to remove it. Maxthon will ask before deleting.

4. Edit this category

Click this command to open the Edit RSS category dialog box, you can re-enter the name, or reset all automatic update times.

5. Delete this category

Click the command to remove the large category, such as Tenkine. and the "network traffic", "news Bus" These small categories of deletion is the use of the delete link command, please note its differences. After you delete a large class, the small category is naturally gone.

6, set up

Click this command to open the Maxthon option, and make some global settings for the RSS news. After trial, feel "automatically found on the Web page news link" is very easy to use, but also to select "When found on the Web page RSS link to notify me when." three, simple evaluation

The biggest drawback: simple-not fully functional, the lack of most specialized RSS tools have some advanced RSS management features.

Maxthon in the RSS function than the special RSS tool may have a shortage of places, or the function is not very complete, such as the lack of news control functions, article management functions, also do not support RSS or OPML import and export. But for most users, especially those who are accustomed to using Maxthon as the default browser, it is certainly convenient. There is a sentence called "Good enough", and after a trial, it seems that most people are really enough. Perhaps some time later, Maxthon developers can improve the other related functions of RSS, to provide users with greater convenience.
