MDaemon Use Tutorial

MDaemon is a very powerful mail server software that runs on the windows9x/me and Windows nt/xp/2000/2003 operating systems, especially for those who need to send e-mail to each other in the LAN. Users who also need to send messages to each other on the Internet.

MDaemon server, in addition to SMTP/POP3, also includes mailing lists, support aliases, automatic reply, automatic forwarding, multiple domain names, remote management services. The unlimited user version of MDaemon software can support thousands of users, so MDaemon can be applied to any organization's mail service. Here's how to install, configure, and manage MDaemon in Windows 2003 environments.

One, Win 2003 Server MDaemon Installation

(1) At the beginning of MDaemon installation, the system will require the user to select the language used in the MDaemon control interface. The MDaemon management interface can support multiple languages----English, German, and French. If you are familiar with English, it is recommended to choose U.s.english Language for installation.

(2) Click the OK button in the dialog box to display the software license agreement. If you want to continue the installation of MDaemon, you must accept the agreement.

(3) Click the "Agree" button to display the installation Wizard that selects the MDaemon installation path.

Under the installation path, messages are stored for all users. It is therefore recommended that you install MDaemon into a partition with a large amount of disk space remaining. Click the browse button to make a selection of the new installation path.

(4) Click the Next button to display the Installation Wizard dialog box for the licensing information, where you can type the user and organization name individually.

(5) Click the Next button to enter the interface to select the components you want to install.

MDaemon has the following 3 installation selection components altogether.

The MDaemon server for Smtp,pop and IMAP service is the most basic mail server content, so you must choose to install it. It can provide SMTP mail delivery service, POP3 Mail Service, and IMAP service.

MDaemon Client for remote Configuration services is a tool used to remotely administer mail servers.

This is the best option if the mail server is hosted by the ISP but cannot be manipulated frequently to the server.

Worldclient Server for web based email and groupware services is used to choose whether or not to install Web methods to send and receive e-mail client services. In MDaemon Mail Service, webmail is worldclient. It must have been known that users can access the mail server in any corner of the world. MDaemon is based on B/S (browser/server) way of mail access, without the need to install any client software, the user needs is just a browser.

(6) Click the Next button to display the Ready to Install dialog box to prompt the user to formally install MDaemon.

(7) Click the Next button and the installation process begins copying the files for MDaemon to be formally installed. After installation, the Configure DNS dialog box is displayed, where you are required to type the primary DNS server and the IP address of the backup DNS. It should be noted that for dial-up users, the IP address is not fixed, so do not need to fill in. Selecting the Use Windows DNS settings check box uses the network settings in Windows.

(8) Click the Next button to display the first User Registration Information dialog box, enter the full name of the username (acceptable in Chinese), email account name (excluding host domain name), and account password in each text box. Where this is the postmaster (which is the administrator's account) and this Accounth as Administrator level Web Access (which is the Web-mode Administrator privilege) option. If you want to use this user as the administrator of the server and as a Web Access Manager, the two items can be selected separately.

(9) Click the Next button to ask if the mail service is added to the server's system service. This check box is necessary to select, so that the established server will not log on after the boot, you can start the normal operation of the mail system.

(10) Click the Next button and you will be prompted to install the Advanced option. Select the I want to go through the Setup processes now check box, and Setup will configure the MDaemon mail server in a wizard manner.

(11) Click the Next button and the Advanced Setup Wizard will first display a description file. Continue clicking the Next button to display a dialog box that sets the domain name used for the mail server. Type a domain name in the blank column. For example, if the requested official domain name is ghq.org, you should type ghq.org at that point.

(12) Click the Next button to display a dialog box that sets the e-mail agent. When MDaemon receives a message, by using the POP server address (pop Host) that is typed here, and the username and password, MDaemon will connect to the mailbox and receive the message to the local server, and then the user will collect the message from the local mail server, that is to say, This is a mail agent function. Since we are providing our own mail service instead of implementing any mail agent, we leave blank without filling in any content.

(13) Click the Next button to display the Setup wizard that sets the way MDaemon and ISP connections are installed. If you set up a mail agent, there is a need to establish a connection with your ISP. If no mail agent is set up, there is no need to make any settings here. Uncheck the check box for Yes,i want MDaemon to connect me to my ISP.

(14) Click the Next button, the system prompts the MDaemon server has been successfully installed, and displays the Installation Success dialog box. The four options are to start MDaemon, view the documentation, upgrade immediately, and then automatically monitor the upgraded version. Select the start MDaemon and check for future updates automatically checkbox, the system will immediately start MDaemon, and automatically download the upgrade package online to achieve the MDaemon upgrade.

(15) Click the Finish button to complete the installation process and open the main interface of the admin window.
