Meanings of the two parameters in the/proc/uptime file:
[Root @ app ~] # Cat/proc/uptime
3387048.81 3310821.00
The first parameter indicates the time (in seconds) from the system startup to the present ):
3387048.81 seconds = 39.20195381944444 days, indicating that the server has been continuously started for 39.20195381944444 days
The second parameter indicates the system idle time (in seconds ):
3310821.00 seconds = 38.3196875 days, indicating that this machine has been running for only 38 days.
Calculate the idle rate:
3310821.00/3387048.81 = 0.9774943278718207
That is to say, the idle rate is 97%.
The idle rate does not mean that it does a lot of work, but also has a lot to do with server configuration and performance. This server has such a low idle rate, or such a high utilization rate, this is because its configuration is relatively low.
The idle rate has a great relationship with the server configuration. The better the server performance, the higher the configuration, the faster the processing speed, and the higher the configuration, the shorter the server processing time than the lower configuration.
From the idle time, you can determine whether your server load is too large and check whether there is a normal situation. If the idle time is small, it indicates that your server is running at full capacity, then decide whether to upgrade your server.
