Memories of Linux installation on netbook hard drive (pure cainiao experience)

In, I installed the WINXP + linuxmint dual system on my netbook and deleted the G disk on Windows XP. The hard disk only contains the C, D, and g free partitions.

Original XP partition: cdefg + 10g free Partition

Linux version: http://wowubuntu.com/linuxmint-katya-rc.html (666m size, the interface version of small Linux, the official website download)

When installing linuxmint, select:

1. install on idle partitions;

2. I chose the same storage method as XP (during installation, linuxmint detected my XP system and supported Dual System Options). The installation process is quite simple, except for the two items here, others are similar to installing common software.

After the installation is complete, the startup interface is grub2, with 5 Options, 4 for Linux, and 5th for XP. Go to linuxmint and log out later.

-------------------------- Being intoxicated with the joy of the dual system, the sad thing happened in XP --------------------------

After exiting linuxmint, go to the XP system.

I can see that my hard disk is divided into cdef + 3g h disk + 7g I disk (the last two disks are 10 Gb of free space when linuxmint is installed)

I can see that the G disk (which originally exists on XP, in FAT32 format) is only 5 GB, so I want to delete this g disk partition and leave it as a free partition. There is no data in it anyway.

Operation: Right-click my computer, choose manage> disk management, and delete the G disk ....... Sad blow .....

I'm sure I just clicked the G disk to delete the partition !! As a result, the entire hard disk contains the C drive of the XP system and the D Drive. the EFG + 2 Linux partitions are lost !!!!!

Check my computer-Manage-disk management. There are only C and D2 disks left, and the others are GB free partitions !!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simply view Baidu.

No solution! I don't know why I deleted the last FAT32 partition on XP. I didn't have an EF disk or LINUX partition. Why are these three missing.

Baidu said that to download a partition repair tool, as long as there is no change to the GB idle partition, there is a hope to restore the data of the original efg3 XP disk.

I downloaded a recoveryexpert_d_en.exe installation package, saying I want to restart... Hey...

Restart, black box, there are 2 lines: grub rescue> click what did not reflect .... I went there. Not only did EFG disk + linuxmint disappear, but I couldn't even enter XP...

There is a saying: "The house breaks down early in the night and the boat leaks are even worse than the first wind ".

Test 1:

If you cannot enter the system, try the USB flash drive. The USB flash drive is made into a Linux boot disk when it is installed with linuxmint, which integrates the linuxmint image. You can access Linux on a USB flash drive without installation. It feels like winpe.

After going in, check what to do online (linuxmint is a desktop version, you can access the Internet), and say that the grub rescue cannot be found when the grub2 boot system is started. That is, all partitions of linuxmint become GB free partitions.

I have tried some commands such as ls set prefix in grub rescue> on the Internet. It is useless. I cannot find any files and try each partition (after the partition is deleted, I only have CD and G free partitions on the hard disk, so ls only sees two partitions. If a USB flash drive is inserted, there are four partitions, which Linux system partition is in the USB flash disk), no matter whether it is two or four partitions, the LS and prefix commands have been tried, and the results have no effect.

Test 2:

Command method cannot be entered, try to enter grub, execute fdisk/mnt .... But how to get grub .... No clue... (Then, use the USB flash drive of the computer store to open the:> interface, and enter the wrong command fdisk/MNT... Switch to C; D: Execute the command or the wrong command)

Test 3:

Access from a USB flash drive Linux and access the Internet. It says that you can modify any grub file in Linux. I don't know where the grub of linuxmint is .... Which path is not the same as that on the Internet... Maybe the kernel version is different... Fortunately, I found a description about Linux mint Debian. The directory structure of this version describes the same path of grub and 11, so I found grub (I forgot which path, but the content is different from the grub file to be modified on the Internet ....

(Now, I want to run the following Sudo-update grub. In other words, I entered a USB flash drive Linux, where does the UPDATE function work? In addition, I couldn't find where to update the grup file, and I couldn't find the file on the Internet in linuxmint ....)

Test 4:

I won't do it on Linux, or on XP, but my USB flash drive is now a Linux boot disk, not an XP boot disk, without winpe. (You can download software like old Mao Tao in Linux, but you cannot install it on a USB flash drive,

*. EXE Linux is not acceptable and cannot be executed. Moreover, there is data on the boot disk of Linux on the USB flash disk)

No way. I took the USB flash drive and went to my friend's computer store to install the USB flash drive and enter win7pe. (88 m, this PE is really big. Before that, I entered the WINXP old-fashioned machine compatible with PE, and there was no tool to fix XP, only the nt6 -- Vista, win7 and so on) can be fixed. Use the partition tool first.Diskgenius3.8Fix the EFG partition that was just deleted by my operation:

Select the entire disk (the icon hd0 at the top of the list on the left is C: D: above those drive letters, 300 GB), right-click to search for the missing partition (search ), select "search in idle partition" and click Start search,

The lost edisk will be detected immediately (there will be the disk size, and the folder and file on the original edisk will appear in the intermediate partition parameter/Browse File ), there will be a prompt box asking you if the partition needs to be restored. After reading the files, I lost the edisk. I checked "retain" and then detected the F and G disks in turn, click "keep", and then wait for 10 minutes to continue scanning. After 10 minutes, the scan will end, prompting you to "save the Partition Table" if you want to keep these partitions. Click "OK. Click "partition-save partition table ". In this case, the partition table is updated. Wait about 1 minute until it restores the Partition Table to the cdefg disk. If you do not need to screen, you can click "my computer" (because this is in win7pe, you can see my computer) and see the cdefg disk in the window. Partition Recovery completed .... It's just that the Linux mint partition cannot be restored here, that is to say, Linux is gone. I don't know how to recover it.

Restart or GRUB rescue>

Then, enter win7pe. There is a "Windows boot repair" shortcut on the desktop. Double-click to run it. the pop-up window prompts "you can fix nt5 nt6" (if you can only fix nt6, that is, win7 Vista, etc, it indicates that the boot of the XP system cannot be repaired, so nt5 must be available. Select Automatic repair. Then, check the drive C and the repair is successful. Then you can restart the instance.

In this way, the grub rescue> will not appear after the restart, but the Windows XP Start Menu. Then, you can see the Windows XP and the e-drive F-drive G-drive that has been recovered for a long time .... A burst of streams ....

Summary:

1 Linux is still installed on a vmvm, And the cracked version of the VM is smaller than MB, and Linux runs smoothly (translated as a netbook of GHz ).

2. If you really want to install linux on your hard disk, be prepared. Back up important data on your hard disk to other computers !! There are two possible ways to lose your data: First, during installation, if you choose "Custom partition-idle partition" and do not select idle partition, the entire hard disk will be formatted... Second, when Linux is uninstalled, many people will directly Delete the LINUX partition or format the LINUX partition, which will not be able to enter the XP system, because Linux uses grub or grub2 for guidance and grub is available on the MBR, grub directs Windows and Linux, and the first boot item is the LINUX partition. If the LINUX partition is gone, grub reports an error and cannot even Access XP.

3. If Linux is installed on the hard disk and you want to Uninstall Linux, first check how to uninstall it on the Internet. Do not delete the partition without modifying grub. Therefore, the method of brute force uninstallation is not feasible, find out how to uninstall the Linux system and try again.

4 As for why I deleted the G disk on XP, The linuxmint partition, e disk, and f disk were also deleted, is it because the G drive is the last disk in the Windows partition? Or does Linux Process partitions to disrupt the partition logic of the hard disk when Linux mint is installed ??
