First, Application Introduction
In the area of larger environment (such as four chambers, duplex, writing room, etc.), a single router wireless coverage range is limited, some areas may be weak or signal blind spot. Wireless Bridging (WDS) enables multiple wireless routers to interconnect wirelessly, amplifying the wireless signal extension. The wireless terminal can automatically switch the better signal in the process of moving, and realize the wireless roaming.
This article directs the Use and setup of wireless bridging (WDS) features for new interface routers.
Second, set up the method
Before setting, please note the following:
1, the primary and secondary routers do not need (and can not) connect network cable;
2, wireless bridge only need to set up on the secondary router, the following operating instructions are on the secondary router.
Next we start the WDS bridging settings:
1 , enter the bridge Setup interface
Operate the LAN port or wireless signal connected to the secondary router (default is mercury_xxxx), open the browser, empty the address bar and enter the melogin.cn login Admin interface
Click on the Advanced Settings in the upper-right corner of the interface, as shown below:
Click on
Wireless Settings
> WDS
Wireless Bridging , as shown below:
Note : The dual-band wireless router can set 5G into the WDS wireless bridge in either the wireless setting 2.4G or wireless settings, but it cannot open WDS simultaneously on two frequencies. If the main and the secondary routers are dual-frequency routers, it is recommended to bridge 5G signal, otherwise open 2.4G bridge.
2 , scan and select the main router wireless signal
Click next in the WDS Wireless bridge to start setting up the following figure:
Routers automatically scan the peripheral wireless signal, find the main router signal, click Select . The following figure:
Note : The signal list may be more than one page, you can click to enter the next page. If you cannot scan the main router signal, reduce the distance or obstructions between routers.
Enter the wireless password for the main router, enter it correctly, and click Next , as shown below:
3 , set the wireless parameters of the secondary router
After scanning and connecting the main router signal, set the wireless network name and wireless password for the secondary router, and click
Next , as shown below:
Note : If you do not need to implement wireless roaming, you can set the wireless name and password of this router to be different from the primary router.
4 , set the LAN port IP address of the secondary router
Modify the LAN port IP address and main route of the secondary router on the same network segment and do not conflict, click Next , the following figure.
Verify that the configuration information is correct, click Finish , Setup is complete. The following figure:
6 , confirm that the WDS Bridge succeeded
Observe the WDS state in the upper right corner , connected to indicate that the WDS bridge succeeded. The following figure:
Note : This page parameter does not need to be set and is modified only when subsequent network changes are made.
7
, shutting down the DHCP server
Click on the
network parameters
> DHCP
server to shut down the DHCP server, as shown below.
At this point, the wireless Bridge Setup was successful.
If dual-band wireless router as the secondary router WDS Bridging the main router, please note the following:
In the wireless bridging process we have only configured a band of wireless signal name and password, but also need to configure another frequency band. For example, the use of 5G band bridge, you need to set up a separate 2.4G wireless signal, vice versa. Click Common settings > Wireless Settings to modify the relevant settings, if the main router is also a dual-frequency router, please set the signal name and password settings and the main router consistent to achieve roaming.
The primary and secondary routers support 2.4G, 5G signals can be connected to use, and as long as the same band signal name and password consistent, you can automatically roam. Wired computers use a network cable to connect the primary and secondary routers to any LAN port to access the Internet.
Iii. Questions and Answers
You may be concerned about the following issues:
1
, how to login to the secondary router management interface after successful bridging?
A: After successful bridging, you need to log on to the router management interface using the LAN port IP address of the secondary router set up during the bridging process
