Article Title: how to delete the Linux boot interface and precautions. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.
Anyone who has ever played Linux knows that when Linux is installed on the original system, the system boot will display the Linux boot management interface. When we delete Linux one day, however, we found that the Linux boot management interface is still in progress. In this case, we can use the following methods to delete it.
Prepare a DOS boot disk and fdisk software, use it to guide the system to run the DOS command prompt, enter "fdisk/mbr", and press Enter. This deletion cannot be recovered. Please use it with caution.
How to delete Linux
If you need to delete Linux from a hard drive and try to use the default DOS (Windows) fdisk to do so, you will encounter the "partition exists but does not exist" problem. The best way to delete non-DOS partitions is to use a tool that understands partitions rather than DOS.
First, insert the Red Hat Linux CD to boot the system. After the boot, you will see a boot prompt. Enter: linux rescue. This will start the rescue mode program.
You will be prompted to enter your keyboard and language requirements. Enter these values, just as you entered in Red Hat Linux installation.
Next, a screen will show you that the program is trying to find the Red Hat Linux installation to be rescued. Select "Skip" on the screen 」.
After you select "Skip", you will be given a command prompt that you can use it to access the partition to be deleted.
First, type the command list-harddrives. This command lists all the hard drive identified by the installer on your system and their size (in MB ).
Warning
Be sure to delete only necessary Red Hat Linux partitions. Deleting other partitions may result in data loss or damage to the system environment.
To delete a partition, use the partition tool parted. Start parted. Here/dev/hda is the device where the partition to be deleted is located:
Parted/dev/hda
Run the print command to view the current Partition Table and determine the number of the partition to be deleted:
Print
The print command can also display the partition type (such as linux-swap, ext2, and ext3 ). Knowing the partition type helps you determine whether to delete the partition.
Use the rm command to delete a partition. For example, to delete a partition with the number 3:
Rm 3
