Microsoft today opened a limited test of two new Windows Live services, which are equivalent to the network hard disk service and the online photo album service.

There has been a lot of information about the Windows Live Folders, and even an accidental leak. In fact, it is a network hard drive that provides 500MB of online storage space. Users can store, back up files in it and share them with friends or anyone. While there are no restrictions on access to the file, one prerequisite for using the service is that you have to have a Windows Live ID, which is also required for many Windows Live services.

The second service, called Windows Live Photo Gallery, is actually an upgraded version of Windows Photo Gallery (Photo gallery) with Windows Vista system, and of course it supports Windows XP. As a photo management service, users can use it to upload photos to Microsoft blog Windows Live spaces and share them with friends.

Brian Hall, general manager of Microsoft's Windows Live business, said the two services were the vanguard and that a number of Windows Live services would be released in the coming months. Over the past time, Microsoft has been busy working on a list of services, upgrading Hotmail mail, then adding more new services, and linking desktop products more closely to the Web.

Brian Hall said: "The second generation of Windows Live is coming." ”

In November 2005, Microsoft announced its Windows Live and office live projects to build its own Internet strategy to compete with Google and other rival network services. With the launch of Live folders and live Photo Gallery, Microsoft is catching up with rivals such as Yahoo Briefcase and Flickr, as well as Web storage, photo sharing, and rumors that Google will launch gdrive and use Picasa to create network albums.
