Microsoft Office Server System Requirements

To use Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search, or Microsoft Office Forms Server 2007, you must:

Operating System	Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition, or Windows Server 2003 Web Edition plus Service Pack. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
Others	Server farm deployment requires a connection speed of 100 Gb/s per second (Mbps), and the client-to-server connection requires a connection speed of 56 thousand bits per second (Kbps. Email Notification must be a messaging software that complies with the Internet Simple Mail transmission protocol/Post Office Protocol 3 (SMTP/POP3), Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4), or MAPI. 3
Browser 4	Although management tasks on SharePoint sites are optimized for level 1 browsers, Office SharePoint Server 2007 still provides rendering support for other common browsers. To ensure full access to all functions, we recommend that you use a browser to perform management tasks. Level 1 Web Browser5 -Win 2000, Win XP, Win2003, and Vista clients with IE6 or IE7 Level 2 Web Browser6 -Windows 1.5, Windows XP, Win2003, and Vista clients with Firefox 1.7, Mozilla 8.1, or Netscape 2000 -Unix/Linus with Firefox 1.5 or Netscape 7.2 -Mac OS-X with Firefox 1.5 or Safari 2.0 Browsers not listed in level 1 or Level 2 are not supported. For example, earlier browsers, such as Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 5.5x, Internet Explorer for Macintosh, and third-party Web browsers listed earlier than 2 are not supported.

2 gb ram is required for one server farm deployment. 4 GB is recommended for SQL and application servers.

2 Office SharePoint Server 2007 requires a local or a DVD drive that is accessible from the network.

3. SQL Server 2000 SP3a or later is required for Server farm deployment. Some advanced features require SQL 2005 SP1 or later and SQL 2005 Analysis Services SP1 or later.

4. Web browsers support two levels: level 1 and level 2. Only 32-bit browsers are supported.

Grade 5 Web browsers use advanced functions provided by ActiveX controls to provide the most complete user experience. The browser provides complete functionality on all SharePoint websites, including the Management Center website.

Level 6 and level 2 Web browsers provide basic functions. Therefore, users can perform read/write operations on SharePoint websites and perform website management. However, because only one browser supports ActiveX controls and different browsers have different functions, these browsers may provide different user experiences, there may be some differences with the user experience of level 1 browsers.
