Migration and backup of the Domino System from the UNIX platform to the windows Platform

One service machine in the data center is in the depreciation period, and has been replaced by the newly purchased IBM machine X3950, Which is pre-installed with the windows 2003 server Standard Edition, therefore, only the OA system running on the Unix platform is migrated to the new windows 2003 platform.
Preparations for the administrator before migration:

I,Disable domino and prohibit replication and access to this old server.
#/Opt/lotus/bin/server-q
Manually back up the names. nsf admin4.nsf, notes. ini, and certlog. nsf files in the/domino/lotus/notesdata/directory of the solarisx system to ensure the latest data.

In addition, cert. id, server. id, user. id, top5.dsk, and Cache. DSK. Do not forget to back up all files under the mail directory *. nsf Mail Files and TSYOA directories are database files developed by our Organization ).

Note: During the backup process, you will encounter a file name ending with. ft, which is a full-text index file that does not need to be copied. Back up all user ID files;

II,Install Domino R5.10 on another server. Remember not to prepare the Domino System for the moment. Note that the installation version must be the same as the original version. Do not upgrade it at will.

3. Copy the backup names. nsf admin4.nsf and certlog. nsf to the domino/data directory. Copy the TSYOA directory to the domino/data directory. If the data volume is large, the copy time will be long.

IV,You must put the cert. id, server. id, and user. id files in the domino/data directory. Note: The passwords of these three identifiers must be known and used in the following configuration.

V,First, disconnect the old Domino machine and start the Lotus Domino Server on the new machine. Of course, the network parameters of the new machine and the fully qualified host name must be consistent with the original one. Then we start to configure the new machine, the process is subdivided into the following four small steps:

1. Create a New Domino server, the first Domino service machine, as shown in figure

2. Select the setting method and advanced configuration.

3. Server user-Advanced Settings: select a Web browser and the POP3 and SMTP options of the Internet mail package.

4. This step is particularly important. When selecting the validators identifier, use the existing validators identifier cert. id in the selection. The service machine name and server host name must be consistent with the original settings. Select an existing server identifier server as the server identifier. id. Select an existing administrator id as the administrator id. id at this time, select the complete button to repeat the two input cert. id, server. id and user. id. Note: If the cert. id, server. id, and user. id files are not stored in the domino/data directory, find the file, open it, and enter the password.

After the Domino server configuration is completed, enter "X: \ Lotus \ Domino \ nserver.exe" in the startup system. If the nsf database is not fully copied, the following prompt will appear when starting domino. In this case, you only need to copy the original data.

After the above operations, the system can be started normally. If no error message is reported, the migration is successful.

Finally, let's talk about the system backup problem. The Lotus system is very stable, and important files are stored in nsf files with strict management permissions. There are very few viruses targeting nsf files, and generally there will be no problems, however, because the architecture is threatened by viruses and trojans on the windows platform, it also increases the risk of system management. Therefore, we must back up the system.

The Lotus system itself does not write information into the Registry during installation, so it brings us convenience during backup. If your system is installed by default, the simplest way to back up a system is to copy the entire Lotus directory to a secure location, such as the shared directory of an active hard disk or other machines on the network. When a problem occurs, copy the backup Lotus directory back on the same machine as the original one. Enter X: \ Lotus \ Domino \ nserver.exe to start the system.

The following describes how to back up Domino data in real time:

There is a Domino Agent component in Symantec's Backup Exec 12 software, which can be used to protect the database on the Domino server. The basic method of use is as follows: You need to buy the Domino Agent license first, each Domino server to be backed up requires a license. On the Backup server, enter the corresponding serial number to Backup Exec and install the Domino Agent. On the Domino server, you only need to install the Remote Agent. After the configuration on the Domino server is complete, you need to create a backup job. Expand the Domino server in the backup resource selection window. The Lotus Domino Databases icon is displayed below, and then expand this icon, you can see the Domino database on this computer. As shown in:

You can select full, incremental, or differential backup in the backup mode to indicate that logs are marked as reentrant after the log backup is complete to save disk space.Space.
