2. OMA protocol
2.1 Why the OMA protocol is required
With the rapid development of global mobile communication, in order to improve the quality of mobile communication service, meet the needs of people, and solve the problem of data synchronization between different networks, and then realize interconnection, the urgent task is to establish a universal and safe and reliable Unified standards and specifications for easy to operate End-to-end mobile communications. The Global Standardization organization OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) Open Mobility Alliance was founded on June 12, 2002. It is a demand-oriented approach.
2.2 What is data synchronization
About data synchronization, some places directly say OMA to solve the interconnection problem of different networks, we can never let a Chinese people and the foreigners on the other side of the direct dialogue, we could do is through a translation process and a communication tool to communicate. OMA will never become a mobile phone, it has to rely on a variety of hosting networks, but the OMA protocol is not satisfied with the translation of words, it wants the world to use the same language.
Establishment of 2.3 OMA organization
OMA was originally merged by the two standardization organizations of the WAP Forum (WAP FORUM) and open Mobile architecture (open mobility architecture). Subsequently, the Regional Interoperability Forum (LIF), the Syncml, mms Interoperability Research Group (MMS-IOP) and the Wireless Association (WIRELESS Village), which are committed to advancing the work of mobile business norms, have joined OMA.
The work of OMA is to seek a system-independent, open standard that enables applications and businesses to achieve data synchronization across a wide range of terminals worldwide.
2.4 TR069 protocol and OMA Protocol
With VoIP, IPTV and more and more IP terminal equipment popularization (especially in the family), a large number of equipment configuration and maintenance becomes more and more difficult, greatly improve the cost of network product operators, the traditional SNMP based network management system in the face of a large number of terminal equipment is powerless, Limits the development speed and scale of the broadband access market. TR069 defines a brand new network management architecture, including "Administrative Model", "Interaction Interface", "Management parameters", to a large extent, reduce the cost of the transport of networked products, so the focus of the TR069 protocol is practical application, that is, the application layer of the OSI protocol model.
Unlike the TR069 protocol, OMA is designed to support data synchronization between different networks of different devices, so OMA's data transmission is not only built on the Internet session layer using HTTP transmission, OMA also supports wireless network WAP using WSP and Bluetooth network using OBEs for data transmission, and so on. Different networks are only different transmission tools, but because of the common use of the standard SYNCML data packet, the data synchronization between different networks, so that the intermediary interoperability tools to achieve different networks and devices between the data interaction. OMA was designed to focus on the presentation layer of the OSI protocol model in terms of data synchronization, desalination of devices, operating systems, and the impact of the network on data interaction.
3. OMA-DM Protocol Model
3.1 What is the OMA-DM protocol
OMA-DM (Device Manage) is an application of OMA protocol, which is a set of management protocols for mobile and wireless networks defined by OMA organization.
3.2 OMA-DM Protocol Model
Since the OMA-DM protocol is clearly independent of the hosting network, OMA-DM applications are built on a variety of networks that can transmit OMA-DM commands using a variety of network protocols.
Looking at this picture, we can see that the underlying hosting network of the OMA Protocol, spanning GSM, CDMA, WiMAX, and so on, can cover almost all of today's mobile transmission technologies. The implementation carrier of OMA-DM protocol mainly includes two types of TCP/IP and WAP (Wireless application Protocol).
WAP is not only as a carrier of OMA-DM protocol, but more importantly, the original purpose of this Protocol is to establish a bridge between Internet and wireless devices, and define the way of communication between wireless mobile devices and fixed servers in the network. It establishes a network framework for the OMA-DM protocol to communicate with wireless mobile devices through a fixed Web server.
