Modify the default MySQL encoding in Linux

Source: Internet
Author: User

For Chinese, database encoding has always been a big problem, but in Linux mysql we can initially set all the encoding to UTF-8, the operation is as follows:

1. Modify the/etc/mysql/my. cnf file, sudo gedit/etc/mysql/my. cnf
Add default-character-set = utf8 under [client]
Add character-set-server = utf8 init_connect = 'set NAMES utf8' (or set names 'utf8') under [mysqld ')
Add default-character-set = utf8 under [mysql]

2. Restart mysql
Sudo/etc/init. d/mysql restart

Next we can use show variables like 'character % '; To view mysql Encoding
