Modify the host name in Linux (Red Hat 5.5)

I. Use the hostname command

[Root @ Vin ~] # Hostname yourname

In this case, the host name is changed temporarily.

2. modify the configuration file/etc/sysconfig/network and/etc/hosts of the Linux host.

1. Modify/Etc/sysconfig/NetworkHost Name.

# Vi/etc/sysconfig/Network

Networking = Yes
Networking_ipv6 = No
Hostname = vin

2. Modify/Etc/hostsName

# Vi/etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost. localdomain localhost

192.168.1.121 yourname // modify the hostname here

// Sometimes only this row exists.

127.0.0.1 yourname localhost. localdomain localhost

3. Make the changed name take effect without restarting the machine.

# Hostname yourname
