Monitor and manage SNMP installation in Ubuntu

Recently, remote server monitoring has been set up. The CactiEZV10.1 platform is used to remotely monitor system information, servers, applications, and databases on servers, therefore, you need to install the snmp protocol package on the remote server, obtain system information through snmp itself, and then transmit it to the monitoring platform for data collection and analysis for remote management. Because Ubuntu is used, various software packages are installed online, as follows:

> Apt-get snmp

> Apt-get snmpd

After installing OK, modify/etc/snmp/snmpd. conf, I have tried it many times, because it is applicable to snmpd. conf configuration information is not understood, so after the installation, overwrite the following information to snmpd. in the conf file, you can restart the snmpd service.

Make sure that the snmpd. conf file contains the following green content:

Overwrite snmpd. after conf, run the snmpwalk-v 2c-c public localhost command or snmpwalk-v 2c-c public local IP address command. If both methods can obtain data, it indicates that, the snmp server is successfully configured.

Alternatively, you can use other commands to install the OK snmp server.

Snmpwalk-v 2c-c public destination IP address

If you can obtain the information, it indicates that you can access the data remotely. If you can only access the data locally but not remotely, check the firewall or disconnect the data by using the following command:

> Netstat-nlup | grep ": 161"

After snmp is installed, it is used as the system server by default. Therefore, you can run the following command to start and stop snmp:

> Service snmpd start

> Service snmpd stop
