I'm 56 years old and I'm learning to program.

Why? Because I like programming, now is also the old driver.

But programming is not easy, learning programming is difficult, but I can accept it.

I like to immerse myself in the challenges of the algorithm, and also be willing to squeeze out a few more minutes to do a test, more love "Maybe this time success" after "finally successful" experience.

In fact, I have never had any hobbies. I do not like activities that do not bring me benefits, so it is hard for me to insist on doing something for fun.

What I do after work must bring me financial benefits.

Well, programming can generate revenue, and it's a big benefit. So, what's the problem?

Well, before I fully accept the 56-year-old to become a novice programmer, I have to kill my inner self-doubt first.

Even without self-doubt, programming itself is a difficult thing to do.

If I can overcome my self-doubt, I can convince anyone who wants to question me. Self-doubt can arise anytime, anywhere, questioning some of my key questions.

self-doubt: you are so old, why do you want to learn programming?

me: your words mean that I can live a few years, and I can live to the day of programming to make money. Then we'll figure it out.

As an American, my life expectancy is 78.8 years, which means I can live 22.8 years. 20-year-old you may think 22.8 years is nothing, but this is enough to let the 56-year-old I dance in the street. (And just because I'm 56 years old, I have a better chance of living to 78 years than a 20-year-old.) But it doesn't matter. )

So, assuming I've spent 4 years at a snail's pace on the 1-year Foundation course for free Code Camp and become a novice full-stack engineer, I can look for a job as a junior engineer at the age of 60.

Assuming that I have spent 2 years in my age to find a job, and then assume that 70 is the highest age the employer can accept, then I can have 8 years of practice enough to elevate my level to a certain height.

In addition, past experience has taught me not to luck the truth , so I prefer to be loyal to the first employer to offer me employment opportunities.

Is there any 20-year-old young man who will stick to the first programming job for 8 years?

Thoughts: According to the author's idea, spend 4 years to complete basic study, spend 2 years to find a job, work 8 years to 70 years old. Willing to spend 6 years to transform. Really make my brother admire admire.

Before listening to old people said that children think their day is very long, and the old people think a year is very short, because people use their own lost time to judge the present time. In other words, a 10-year-old child, 1 years to give him the feeling is 1/10 dead time, and a 56-year-old person, a year of feeling is 1/56 has died time.

Patience, patience, is often the essential product of home travel.

self-doubt: but you have made a lot of money, and which employer will pay you for it?

me: you would ask me that even if I didn't learn programming, but I know what you mean, and it's probably less of a junior engineer than my current income.

But you know, now I have more than 5 years of work experience, the income is less than 5 years ago .

I cannot guarantee that my present job is always there. When I'm unemployed, I'm looking for a new job anyway. At my age, I would probably have to be treated as an entry-level job, and the job might be ... Give money and do it.

By contrast, I'd rather have a skills that can be a stepping stone to find a junior post that can make a lot of money later, and then say, at least let me go around and be a freelancer.

Thoughts: The author of this abacus very accurate! It is the old lake.

self-doubt: but all tech giant companies want to hire young people who just graduated from college.

me: It's not easy, I don't want to move to Silicon Valley, and I don't want to work for a tech giant.

You may have seen the same data, and by 2020 there will be more than 1,000,000 vacancies in the programming post, and programmers will be in short supply. But not all programmers are going to Google, Facebook, Amazon or Microsoft, and in fact most of the programming is not even in the tech industry.

My first computer-related job was in the hospital. Although I am not a programmer, most IT staff are programmers.

That was the 1982 thing.

Feeling: Can refuse BAT!!!!!!!

self-doubt: So how are you going to find a job now?

me: First of all, I cope to vote on my resume and get in contact with the hiring manager to make sure there are plenty of interview opportunities. This is a number game, the more resumes I cast, the greater the odds of finding a job, and I am willing to try.

All the achievements I made before 2000 were removed from my resume.

I'm not going to act like an uncle when I'm in the interview. I'm just a candidate who is passionate about programming and willing to learn , not pretend.

Most importantly, I'm ready for programming challenges and interview questions.

I was prepared for the possibility of screwing up some interviews. But to be optimistic, I can always find a job with so many companies recruiting programmers.

Feelings: The old driver Proverbs, looking for work in addition to technology, face, the rest is by passion? Machine: the basic situation;

self-doubt: programming teams are mostly made up of young people, how are you going to fit in?

me: if "fit" means to be with them, then I won't fit in.

In my current job, I know I can learn something from my colleagues every day at work, so I choose to listen. I didn't know what the boss was going through every day, so whatever happened, I chose to make allowances for him. And when I screwed up, I chose to be honest.

That's how I've been working in every job for the past 36 years.

Feeling: the useless side to be calm, self-discipline can be free.

The Don's simple two words, the most difficult two points in the work.  Colleagues to get along with modesty, the boss in front of Mo loaded force. See here, younger brother's admiration is like surging river water, and such as the Huanghe what and that what ...

self-doubt: you've got a decent job, why aren't you satisfied? You have reached the ideal height, especially for people of your age.

me: contentment? Hehe, I've redefined what kind of work is called decency.

Learning to program makes me radiant. for the cause of the second spring struggle, let me get rid of the existing work procrastination work status.

Besides, do you really know where I'll be when I'm 60, 70 or older? Anyway, I don't know.

self-doubt: How do you know you are not wasting your time?

me: you're actually asking, "What if you can't find a job that's nine to five after work?" ”

My answer is: "So what?" ”

I will do well enough to grow fast enough to use my programming skills:

    • Develop applications, build communities, and provide value through fee-based services;

    • Make a website to help local enterprises to grow and serve their customers at the same time;

    • Combine the existing Enterprise Services API to provide a small community with product services.

In other words, I can learn how to land an idea and really make it work to serve the public, to provide value for people and to create wealth.

Whether I can find a nine-night five job, I will do it.

This is why I still have to learn programming even though I am 56 years old.
