At the end of last year, Microsoft accepted the browser "Select Interface" ballot screen provided by its rival Opera. This solution was subsequently recognized by the European Union. Microsoft announced that it will test the new browser selection interface for Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 users in Europe this week. Microsoft praised Mozilla for developing Firefox and believed that providing a browser selection interface would help the Internet to open up and promote Web development.
"This is a very important choice, because Web browsers have established the most close relationship with modern life, we believe that browser selection interface is an important milestone and can help more users control their online lives, we believe that such conversations can become more extensive and in-depth."
Starting from this week, Microsoft will provide system upgrade patches to users in the UK, Belgium and France, users who want to participate in the browser selection interface test can obtain the patch through the Windows Update download center. After installing the patch, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 users who use IE as the default browser will see a prompt window to introduce the browser selection interface solution.
Each time you open the browser interface, you will see different browser sorting. This window will randomly sort the top five browsers. In addition, the positions of the 6th-12th browsers browsed by the scroll bar are randomly arranged.
Unfortunately, Mozilla commissioned YouGov to conduct a survey in the UK. The survey results show that only 1/3 of users are aware of this issue, and 77% of British computer users are not familiar with the web browser selection interface.
