Problem:
Win2000/XP/2003 + Oracle9i, "Microsoft
Data Link error. The message "test connection failed, because an error occurred during the initialization of the provider. An Oracle error occurs, but information cannot be retrieved from Oracle ."
Cause:
After a long query, I found the answer on some BBS in English. It is an Oracle path problem. MDAC is not installed.
Solution:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Oracle_Home under ORACLE. Check whether the path is correct and change it to the Oracle installation directory.
