An arithmetic function operates on columns of type integer integer, floating-point float, solid real, currency money, and smallmoney. Its return value is a 6-bit decimal and, if an error is used, returns a null value and displays a warning message. You can use arithmetic functions in the Select and WHERE clauses of a SELECT statement and in expressions. The arithmetic functions in Transact-SQL are shown in table 4-7.

Example 4-37: use sin (), atan (), RAND (), PI (), SIGN () functions in the same expression

Example 4-38: use the ceiling () and floor () functions to return the minimum integer value that is greater than or equal to the specified value, and the maximum number of integers less than or equal to the specified value.
